Finally got back and caught up from the 4th annual Gun Blogger Rendezvous in Reno NV, and I have to say, it was a fantastic event. Cheaper Than Dirt! regularly sends reps to various industry shows and conventions, so it's only natural that we would send a rep to the largest gathering of firearm industry bloggers in the world. Cheaper Than Dirt! is pleased to be able to use this opportunity to reach out to other enthusiasts of the shooting sports, as well as to further enhance the community we are creating with our forums and blog for all fans and participants of various shooting sports.
This year, the charity is Soldier's Angels Project Valour-IT. Every dollar goes directly towards the purchase of laptops and other electronic gadgetry to help seriously wounded veterens. Chuck from From My Position helped start project Valour IT, and he attended the Rendezvous and gave a stirring presentation on how much the project does for injured soldiers. Click the link and find out how much they do to help fallen soldiers. Cheaper Than Dirt is proud to be a participant in the Gun Blogger Rendezvous, and glad to support this charity.
Second Amendment hero Alan Gura showed up. He gave a wonderful talk on the Nordyke and Sykes case, and entertained a very enlightening Q&A session, which I'll post more of later. Other notable representatives include Rachel Parsons from the NRA-ILA and Bill Brassard from the NSSF, and both gave excellent presentations on the state of the fight for Second Amendment rights.
Got to meet Uncle from Says Uncle (who also is the co-owner of Bison Armory) and test out their 6.8SPC upper. Is it accurate? Well, considering that I was able to hit 16"x12" steel plates at 400 yards with iron sights, I'd have to say, yes, it's pretty accurate. I also got to meet the youngest gun blogger and competitive shooter, Molly from The Molly Minute. We had a small Steel Challenge match, and most of us were handily beaten by Molly. To say she's fast would be an understatement. She's REALLY fast. Still have your doubts? Check out this video:
Molly shoots as a member of the Smith and Wesson shooting team.
There were many more bloggers there: Phil and David from Random Nuclear Strikes, Kevin Baker from The Smallest Minority, Sebastian from Snowflakes in Hell, Fodder from Ride Fast Shoot Straight, US Citizen from Traction Control, and of course our host Mr. Completely but to name a few.
